About

Paul Sunyak

An idealist at heart, Paul Sunyak grew up wanting to change the world through journalism, but after figuring out that was a pretty tall order, decided to focus on changing just his small part of it. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Penn State University, and a master’s degree in journalism and communication from Point Park University in downtown Pittsburgh. He taught journalism for six years at West Virginia University while working as a reporter and editorial page editor at his hometown newspaper. He’s won numerous journalism awards, some of which currently reside in his back yard storage shed. In the words of his executive editor, he specializes in “comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable.” He graduated from German Township High School in the coal mining country of Fayette County, Pa., takes great pride in being a “Uhlan,” and thinks black and red are the best school colors ever. Lately, he’s taken to riding a motorcycle for fun.
